Magallanes discloses P7.5-M Yolanda aid for CapSU-Dumarao

DUMARAO, Capiz—Dr. Editha Magallanes (Capiz State University president) and Dr. Aladino Leccio (Capiz State University vice-president for administration and finance) visited Capiz State University, Dumarao campus, June 25, Wednesday, 9:00am. The campus was having their Orientation Program during the visit.

“We just have a surprise visit with the president [Dr. Editha Magallanes] without knowing that you have your orientation program,” Leccio said during his talk.

Meanwhile, Magallanes was happy in disclosing that the university has received P76-M Yolanda aid from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). This was prior to the announcement of CHED that a worth P800-M Yolanda aid for 26 damaged state universities and colleges (SUCs) in the Visayas and other parts of Luzon, including Capiz State University, was already approved. Consequently, P7.5-M was allotted for the Dumarao campus rehabilitation procedure.

Moreover, Magallanes also said that the Dumarao campus has 42 4P’s (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program) scholarship recipients. The recipients will receive a worth P35, 000 subsidies every semester for their educational provision. P10, 000 of which was allotted for their tuition and other fees in the university, P2, 500 is for their book allowance and P3, 500 is for their personal needs.

Magallanes also uttered that the student enrolment will be extended until Friday, June 27. This extension is to give way the late enrollees to enroll on their preferred programs. She also reiterated that the university requires only at least P500 for the down payment upon the enrollment.

In regards to the shooting incidence in the Criminology Department on previous year, killing a 2nd year student namely Jondel Dorado; Magallanes said parents of the victim will receive P40, 000 from the Fortune Insurance Company. The insurance documents are waiting to be signed to their head office in Manila.

“We are not sleeping on it [shooting incidence] but we are doing with it,” she said.

Magallanes apprehended that she is free to talk with Supreme Student Council president to discuss matters on her office for the improvement of the campus.
